The inhabitants in the animal&#8217;s intestine are responsible, among other things, for ensuring that food can be utilised and ensures that indigestible or harmful substances are excreted. Important <strong>vitamins, enzymes,<\/strong> antibiotically active substances and hormones are also produced by the<strong> intestinal bacteria<\/strong>, as are important short-chain fatty acids. These are particularly important for maintaining the health of the<strong> intestinal mucosa<\/strong>, as they supply its cells with energy.
