Les pr\u00e9biotiques favorisent ainsi <strong>la croissance des bifidobact\u00e9ries<\/strong> et r\u00e9duisent la colonisation de l\u2019intestin par des esp\u00e8ces bact\u00e9riennes potentiellement nocives. Ces AGCC sont essentiels car ils abaissent le pH de l&rsquo;intestin, ils augmentent la solubilit\u00e9 de certains min\u00e9raux et ils am\u00e9liorent l&rsquo;absorption du calcium, du magn\u00e9sium, du sodium et du phosphore par l&rsquo;organisme.\u00a0<\/p><p>Par ailleurs, les pr\u00e9biotiques bloquent les <strong>sites de fixation des bact\u00e9ries nocives<\/strong> gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 leur ressemblance avec ceux des cellules intestinales. En effet, les bact\u00e9ries pathog\u00e8nes vont se lier d\u00e9finitivement aux pr\u00e9biotiques et elles pourront ensuite \u00eatre \u00e9limin\u00e9es dans les selles, ce qui permet d&#8217;emp\u00eacher la multiplication de ces agents dans le corps. On peut remarquer, par exemple, une r\u00e9duction du d\u00e9veloppement des agents pathog\u00e8nes comme <em>Clostridium difficile<\/em> qui est responsables de la diarrh\u00e9e ainsi qu&rsquo;une diminution de la p\u00e9n\u00e9tration de germes nocifs dans la muqueuse intestinale.
