Per compiere al meglio tutte queste funzioni vitali necessita dell\u2019aiuto dei miliardi di microrganismi che lo abitano: i <strong>batteri<\/strong>. Essi vivono principalmente nell\u2019intestino e costituiscono nel loro insieme la<a href=\"https:\/\/www.omni-biotic.com\/it-it\/la-salute-dellintestino\/intestino-e-salute\/batteri-intestinali\/\">\u00a0<strong>flora batterica intestinale<\/strong>.<\/a> Tuttavia, il termine \u201cflora\u201d non \u00e8 del tutto corretto, poich\u00e9 si ricollega a una vecchia teoria che attribuiva i batteri al mondo vegetale. La particolarit\u00e0 della flora intestinale risiede nella sua importanza per <a intestinale<\/strong>\u00a0sano (informalmente detto\u00a0<strong>flora batterica<\/strong>), \u00e8 alla base del\u00a0<strong>benessere<\/strong>\u00a0generale. La\u00a0<strong>colonizzazione\u00a0<\/strong>dell&#8217;intestino da parte di batteri utili e importanti microbi comincia al momento della nascita e dipende dal tipo di parto. In particolare, durante il parto naturale, il neonato passa attraverso la vagina e viene esposto alla flora vaginale della madre, suggerendo un importante influenza del primo contatto sullo sviluppo del suo microbiota. A seguito di un\u00a0<strong>parto cesareo<\/strong>, invece, si riscontra un&#8217;elevata presenza di germi cutanei e ospedalieri, motivo per cui i nati con parto cesareo vanno incontro a un rischio maggiore di contrarre malattie rispetto a quelli venuti alla luce con un\u00a0<strong>parto naturale<\/strong>. I germi arrivano al seno tramite i dotti galattofori per poi confluire nel latte materno. Si discute oggi la possibilit\u00e0 di un trasferimento endogeno dei batteri dall\u2019intestino al latte materno tramite il sistema emolinfopoietico. Secondo questa ipotesi, i bambini allattati al seno presenterebbero le\u00a0<strong>condizioni ottimali<\/strong> per la formazione di una flora intestinale Oltre il 99 % dei batteri sono anaerobi, ossia riescono a vivere in un ambiente privo di ossigeno per sopravvivere. Questo pu\u00f2 suonare strano, ma l\u2019intestino, in tutta la sua lunghezza, non contiene ossigeno. In un primo momento ci\u00f2 pu\u00f2 sembrare strano ma, considerando la lunghezza dell\u2019intestino, \u00e8 logico che al suo interno non vi sia alcuna traccia di ossigeno. Uno dei batteri probiotici\u00a0<strong>pi\u00f9 comuni<\/strong>\u00a0presenti nella flora intestinale \u00e8 il\u00a0<em>Bifidobacterium bifidum<\/em>. Si tratta di un batterio immobile e appartiene ai \u201ctuttofare\u201d della flora intestinale di un adulto sano. Studi scientifici di alto livello hanno evidenziato l\u2019importante ruolo che questo batterio svolge nella prevenzione della\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.omni-biotic.com\/it\/sindrome-intestino-irritabile\/\" data-kmt=\"1\">sindrome dell\u2019intestino irritabile<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0e di\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.omni-biotic.com\/it\/mici\/\" data-kmt=\"1\">malattie infiammatorie intestinali<\/a><\/strong>, nella stabilizzazione dei livelli di colesterolo, nel miglioramento dei sintomi allergici, dell\u2019aspetto della pelle, della percezione dello\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.omni-biotic.com\/it\/intestino-e-salute\/lo-stress-inizia-nellintestino\/\" data-kmt=\"1\"><strong>stress<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0e ancora nella protezione dai radicali liberi e dalla formazione di carcinomi nell\u2019intestino crasso.
