The continuous exposure towards harmful substances puts our bodies under a lot of strain. There are countless foreign and toxic substances in the water, air, ground and food that burden our bodies day after day. A natural way to get a grip on these toxins and expel them from our bodies is buried deep below us.
Our bodies need different types of “fuel” to complete their daily tasks: These so-called nutrients are various organic and inorganic substances that we ingest and process. Among these are, for example, carbohydrates, fats and proteins, but also minerals such as magnesium, potassium, calcium and countless vitamins. Our bodies can survive off roughly 50 different nutrients to complete their numerous tasks. However, we absorb many additional and partially harmful substances through our environment and food. Did you know that 341 food additives (the co-called E-numbers) are currently allowed in the EU and between 25.000 and 80.000 chemicals are used in the industrial sector?
Humic acid can securely bind harmful substances and toxins in the human intestines.
We even ingest some of these substances willingly, i.e. necessary medications. Yet, we are still exposed to countless harmful substances every day: Residues from crop protections and pesticides, as well as various heavy metals, land directly or via the water and ground in our food. Packages made of plastic and aluminium release particles into their contents. We even inhale a myriad of harmful substances in the air we breathe – maybe not to the same extent as a few years ago, but neither at a level where medical consequences are completely out of the picture.
Harmful substances = damage to our bodies?
Our bodies are true artists when it comes to cleansing itself from harmful substances and regenerating itself. For example, the carbon monoxide in cigarette smoke is broken down (within a few hours), toxins are neutralised within the liver, and countless harmful substances from our food are bound in the intestines and excreted naturally. We can break down and eliminate a certain amount of toxins. However, modern pollution combined with our laziness (ready-made meals instead of fresh food, etc.) frequently exceeds our bodies’ own capacities to cleanse itself. Toxins that remain in our bodies can have various consequences, from fatigue and lethargy to sleeping problems. The body makes its discomfort known through digestive problems such as diarrhoea (the body tries to “flood out” the toxins) or an increased susceptibility towards infections (when the intestinal immune system is overburdened).
Natural detoxication with natural substances
Humic acid (a natural metabolite from plants that occur throughout nature, e.g. in various soil components such as humus, moor, peat and coal) offers a valuable approach to binding harmful substances and detoxifying the body. Even foods such as roasted meat, crunchy bread, coffee and tea contain small amounts of this valuable substance and contributes towards their brown colour. In essence, it has long been a part of our diet. However, its importance for the circle of life and therefore our health, has only been discovered by science in the last few decades. A very special humic acid by the name of WH67® is extracted from lignite in Germany and its special properties have been confirmed by various studies. Furthermore, this humic acid can securely bind harmful substances and toxins in the human intestine. This prevents our bodies from absorbing harmful substances and from entering our bloodstream as humic acid can’t pass through the intestinal barrier. Because of its size, WH67® humic acid can reach every corner of the intestinal surface, even the places that activated carbon can’t reach because of its physical properties (size). This allows a continuous protective layer to be placed above the intestinal cells which calm irritated nerve endings in the intestines. Additionally, the mucosa is sealed and protected. This seal prevents harmful substances from entering the body and counteracts the excessive loss of water (during diarrhoea, for example). Finally, pathogens are dispelled, and inflammations suppressed. This calms the stomach and intestines, and gives the digestive tract time to recover.
How to reduce your toxin intake:
- Buy seasonal, organic and regional foods: Try to buy organic foods from your region and make the most of seasonal fruit and veggie offers (South American strawberries in winter definitely contain more harmful substances than your local apple). Wash fruits and veggies before consumption.
- Fresh, minimally processed foods: Try to avoid packaged products such as ready-made meals and canned food as much as possible. This will allow you to avoid the intake of unnecessary food additives and toxins from the packaging and save the environment at the same time.
- Store food properly: Don’t let your food go off. Only buy as much as you need for the next few days, and store foods correctly (e.g. put easily perishable foods in the fridge).
- Prepare food carefully: Prepare culinary delights instead of charred meals. When frying: The shorter, the better (don’t exceed temperatures of 175°C). Try to avoid fat from falling into the embers while grilling (smoke).
When to use humic acid
Various complaints and diseases, acute as well as chronic, are associated with an excessive burden of harmful substances and heavy metals. The use of WH67® humic acid has proven to be very effective with gastrointestinal complaints: Pathogenic germs, travelling, spoiled food and certain drugs can all cause diarrhoea. Many complaints are alleviated thanks to the direct bond between toxins and humic acid, and the expulsion of pathogenic substances in the faeces. It can even cope with overactive intestines due to stress or a one-sided diet. Food is available to the body for longer in a calm intestine and therefore supplies the body with more important nutrients. The special effects of humic acid against environmental toxins was examined in a recent study together with glyphosate: Glyphosate is one of the most widely used ingredients in herbicides in recent years. Foods and animal feed that are exported from many parts of America to Europe are treated with this herbicide. When we eat these foods, glyphosate can enter our bodies. Once in our bodies, this substance can decimate health-promoting bacteria such as Bifidobacteria, Lactobacilli and Enterococci in our intestines thanks to its antimicrobial properties. After the intake of WH67® humic acid, the study participants showed a significant increase in helpful bacteria. Furthermore, the elimination of glyphosate via urine was also higher. Different studies also hint that the prophylactic intake of humic acid would make sense against glyphosate exposure.
Humic acid and probiotics
Humic acid and probiotics work complimentary when treating complaints such as diarrhoea after antibiotic treatment or the intake of any other strong drugs: Humic acid binds the harmful substances and promotes their expulsion while the probiotic drives out pathogenic germs and stops the new formation of toxins. Both of these substances also show great synergy potential when treating inflammatory bowel diseases. Humic acid binds the trigger substances for acute inflammations and seals off the mucosa. Special probiotic bacteria contain the inflammation and give the cells of the intestinal wall energy to regenerate – thanks to the production of short-chain fatty acids by the intestinal bacteria. The use of humic acid is a natural and trustworthy alternative to binding harmful substances and is a valuable addition to probiotic treatment.
