A problem often requires several interlocking solutions – and the more complex a task is, the more optimally those elements that contribute to its clarification must be coordinated. As the intestine is one of the most complex and important health systems of our body, it needs targeted support in the vast majority of cases! This is why our 3 step concept for intestinal health was developed.
For over 30 years, Institut AllergoSan has been known for its research into the gut microbiome and the development of probiotics, and is an international pioneer in these fields. However, plant extracts, micronutrients and prebiotics are also combined to provide the multi-layered intestine the best possible support.
Depending on the needs and condition of the intestines, the appropriate products are combined from each level to provide the so-called “centre of health” with all relevant nutrients.
Step 1: High quality probiotic gut bacteria
In each OMNi-BiOTiC® pack, you will find precisely coordinated intestinal bacteria that reach their destination in the intestine in large numbers and fulfil a wide variety of tasks there. Each strain of bacteria has different properties.
Accordingly, it is crucial to scientifically test the “team ability” of the selected symbionts in advance, so that the application is noticeable for every customer.
Step 2: Prebiotic power
Each OMNi-LOGiC® pack contains the food for those bacteria that you cannot simply ingest. This is because a large part of our intestinal bacteria are strictly anaerobic and cannot tolerate oxygen. Therefore, our anaerobic friends need special food.
If you feed these bacteria their favourite foods, you create an optimal habitat for them in the intestine. As a thank you, the “good” intestinal inhabitants multiply and make their contribution to our well-being.
Step 3: Micronutrients & Herbal supplements
META-CARE® products supply the organism with those micronutrients and plant extracts that are needed for certain functions. The intestinal barrier requires special attention, because it is able to regulate which substances are absorbed from food and which have to leave the body via the intestine.
Not so long ago, the intestine was considered merely a digestive tube, even in research circles, but today its importance as a health centre is undisputed.
In the meantime, the intestine and especially the intestinal flora are considered to be connected to all kinds of other health conditions – including those that are perceived outside the intestine (e.g. disorders of the sugar and fat metabolism, an altered immune system or infections in the intimate area due to a disturbed vaginal flora).
The more comprehensive the research fields and study results become, the broader the application possibilities for micronutrients, probiotics and prebiotics.
Layers of the protective gut barrier
As the name suggests, the intestinal barrier – as long as it is intact – is an important protective wall that prevents pathogens and co. from entering the organism.
The first layer of the intestinal barrier is formed by the intestinal flora consisting of trillions of bacteria from as many different strains as possible. This so-called diversity ensures that the intestinal flora is highly effective against pathogens.
Beneath this lie the cells of the intestinal mucosa – covered by an important layer of mucus, the formation of which is essentially controlled by the intestinal bacteria. These epithelial cells are close together and are firmly connected to each other by so-called “tight junctions”, which are special connecting proteins.
The intestinal immune system forms the third line of defense and houses 80 % of the body’s own immune cells.
